“AM THUC VIET”: The Best vietnam restaurant in Gothenburg

I found this place through my google search. When I researched restaurants, I always read reviews and look at pictures of the atmosphere and food carefully to check its quality. I found this place has great reviews (ex. 4.8 google review by 128 people. updated December 2022). But also the pictures depicted the quality of foods and nice atmosphere. So, I decided to take my partner here on one of the weekends. 

What made “AM THUC VIET” one of the best Vietnamese restaurants?

1. GREAT ATMOSPHERE

First of all, this place really succeeded in creating a modern, comfortable and cozy space. They have nice cozy and warm lighting. The size of the restaurant was perfect, not too big or not too small. It was quite enough to feel the calmness and coziness but friendly and casual enough that you can enjoy the conversation with your partners/companies. 

2. GREAT SERVICE

We went for a weekend lunch. We arrived there soon after the restaurant was open and the person was warmly welcome us. He was very friendly, thoughtful, and sensible for our needs throughout our stay and has an eyes for details. For instance, he gave us water, answer kindly and willingly to my questions for the foods and how they do etc. 

3. GREAT FOOD

Last but least, the food was very delicious. They really value each ingredients tastes instead of using too much sauce. 

• APPETIZER

We ordered SÚP GÀ (menu no.3、 50kr) for appetizer. It is a Vietnamese chicken soup with egg, chives and coriander. They make soup stock from chicken. The soup was very delicious. The combination of chicken and eggs was really nice. It has a special mushroom that adds extra crunchiness and great tastes, as well. It warmed our body, stomach and heart after coming from the cold outside. 

• MAIN DISH

For main, I ordered BÁNH XÈO TÔM GÀ (no. 24.SEK 185). It’s a crêpes with prawns, chicken filet, bean sprouts, broccoli and cauliflower. Served with salad, fresh herbs and fish sauce. It’s my favorite and both looks and tastes are very satisfying. 

My partner ordered BÚN THỊT BÒ XÀO GỬNG (no.17, SEK 160 / Take Away SEK 145). It is a stir-fried beef filet with ginger. Served with salad, pickled vegetables, fresh herbs, roasted peanuts, roasted onions, rice noodles and fish sauce.

• BÁNH XÈO TÔM GÀ: Big fresh Vietnamese omelette

I was surprised how big BÁNH XÈO TÔM GÀ was. It was definitely satisfying with fresh vegetables and herbs as well as amazing omelets with lots of vegetables and good blends with shrimp and chicken. They had some pickles which were very delicious. I asked how they make them and the person told me that they use salt and special hurbs and soaked ca. 48 hours. It was definitely satisfying. I took some home as it was so big and enjoyed it again another day.

• BÒ XÀO GỬNG

BÒ XÀO GỬNG was also nice. It was big enough beef and still quite light as it was not greasy at all. 

• DESSERT

For dessert, we (or my partner lol) ordered CHUỐI CHIÊN WITH KEM (SEK 85). It’s a Fried banana with vanilla ice cream & berries. I personally do not enjoy hot bananas very much but my partner was so happy. I would love to try next time KEM DỪA (SEK 85) because it is HOMEMADE Coconut ice cream with berries, roasted coconut flakes.

SUMMARY:

We were very happy with the restaurant in terms of the atmosphere, foods, and service. My partner was so happy that I took him there. This restaurant experience really made our day. It gave us loving and romantic moments with a cozy and warming atmosphere. Healthy and delicious foods satisfy our heart and stomach.

So, if you are looking for a romantic, calming, cozy place with healthy and delicious food, this is the place that is highly recommended!
